Riverbed reports rapid file size increases
25 Apr 2008
A rapid growth in average file sizes is causing the required storage capacity to increase for many networks, according to Riverbed Technology.
The firm explains that rich content and the emergence of technologies such as Web 2.0 are driving the amounts of data being communicated upwards for many businesses.
As a result, the company is calling for greater third-party interoperability to be put in place across practitioners within the industry.
In this way, vice-president of product marketing and alliances Alan Saldich proposes that such partners could more effectively leverage the capabilities of Riverbed's Steelhead appliances when creating their own complementary products.
"Companies have experienced rapid increases in network traffic as well as increases in file sizes and rich content - and that has negatively impacted the response times of business-critical applications," he observes.
Riverbed recently announced the results of its latest biannual customer satisfaction survey, revealing that 87 per cent of its clients are happy with the service they have received.
