Isilon 'to power NBC coverage of Beijing Olympics'
25 Apr 2008
NBC's coverage of the Beijing Olympics is to be transmitted using Isilon Systems' products, the company has revealed.
Isilon asserts that its IQ range of clustered storage devices was designed specifically to cater for companies with media and content delivery demands in order to facilitate the "next generation of entertainment".
Brett Goodwin, vice-president of marketing and business development at Isilon Systems, says: "We are currently witnessing a sea change in the way digital media is being created, managed and delivered."
Meanwhile, NBC's vice-president of IT for coverage of the Olympics, Craig Lau, adds that the event is to be "unprecedented" by virtue of its scale, incorporating many thousands of hours of video footage - in both standard and high definition - over the course of a 17-day period.
Isilon recently announced its placing within the "magic quadrant" for mid-range and high-end network-attached storage, as assessed by industry analyst Gartner in its 2008 first-half review.
