'Cool vendor' accolade for Diligent Technologies

08 May 2008

Diligent Technologies is among the data services vendors to have been named "cool" in recent weeks.

The news follows the publication of the 2008 Cool Vendors in Data Protection report by industry analyst Gartner, which features Diligent Technologies as one of the companies deemed worthy of praise.

In order to make the list, firms must provide a product which is innovative, impactful and intriguing - the latter of which is determined based on whether it has "caught Gartner's interest" according to Diligent Technologies.

Doron Kempel, chair and chief executive officer of Diligent Technologies, says: "We're very happy to be listed in Gartner's Cool Vendors report for the data protection space and I believe this is great validation from a respected analyst firm."

The spokesperson adds that the accolade is likely linked to the firm's ProtecTIER solution, which performs on-the-fly data reduction during the archiving process.

Diligent Technologies recently reported that ProtecTIER had been incorporated into new virtual tape libraries from Hitachi Data Systems aimed at complying with data protection legislation and regulatory regimes.
