ExaGrid announces 30 TB backup system
08 May 2008
ExaGrid has announced a product enhancement taking the capacity of its backup systems to a maximum of 30 TB.
The firm's EX series of servers is to be subject to the increased storage capacity, which allows for greater retention periods and up to 30 TB of archived data on a single GRID system.
Scalability is also a factor, as ExaGrid notes there is no need to adopt the maximum storage space immediately, but that businesses can increase their capacity as and when they need to by adding to an existing virtualised infrastructure.
With throughput of a potential 4 TB per hour, the system could be used to its fullest extent within a backup window of less than eight hours, while deduplication aims to reduce the time taken as far as possible.
The 30 TB capacity limit is also to be applied to the firm's recently unveiled iSCSI Deduplication Gateway, which ExaGrid suggests can reduce backupstorage needs by a factor of anywhere from ten to 50 times.
