'Best of Show' award for Isilon Systems
08 May 2008
Isilon Systems received praise recently as it was awarded the Best of Show accolade by judges at the Bio-IT World Conference and Expo.
The award is determined by representatives from Bio-IT World magazine, along with experts from the industry, highlighting technology which is of particular benefit to the life sciences and clinical trials sectors.
Isilon's X series of clustered storage solutions was deemed worthy of the praise, providing in a single file volume some 10 GBps of throughput and a maximum of 1.6 petabytes of capacity.
Paul Rutherford, chief technical officer of Isilon Systems, says: "As life sciences and drug discovery move out of the Petri dish and into the data centre, innovations in information technology are dramatically accelerating the discovery process."
Isilon Systems recently revealed it is to provide clustered storage solutions to NBC to facilitate the broadcaster's coverage of the Beijing Olympics in light of the demands placed on television networks by the need to supply thousands of hours of both standard and high-definition footage of the event.
