QLogic praised for 8 Gb FC products

QLogic has been granted a product of the year award for its 8 Gb Fibre Channel switches and host bus adapters (HBAs).
The company's HBAs and SANbox range of switches were singled out for praise by judges for the systems hardware category at the recent AeA High Tech Innovation Awards.
QLogic explains that the range comprises single and dual-port HBAs and adapters for blade servers, as well as switches, director switches and edge switches.
HK Desai, chief executive officer of QLogic, says: "QLogic is all about providing innovation that customers value. That makes this high-tech innovation award especially gratifying for our product teams."
The company adds that the 8 Gb products remain backward-compatible with previous units with operating speeds of 4 or 2 Gb.
In a recent trading statement, QLogic reported that sales including its HBA products increased by five per cent in terms of revenue year-on-year during the fourth quarter of 2008.
