Agentless recovery 'can cut costs'
16 May 2008
Adopting an agentless information recovery platform can help lower the total cost of operating an IT infrastructure, it has been suggested.
The assertion comes from Doug Chandler, research director for infrastructure services at analyst IDC, in light of the release of version 8.0 of Asigra's Televaulting platform.
Asigra explains that this offers unified data recovery management between remote offices and the central data centre, adding that the cost of running the network can be reduced by implementing the system.
"Reducing IT infrastructure total cost of ownership is a significant challenge from the data centre to the remote office and agentless information recovery management seeks to provide answers to these concerns," says Mr Chandler.
Among the features of the latest version of Televaulting is multi-directional data centre replication, as well as enhanced support for enterprise applications.
Cost benefits suggested by Asigra by using Televaulting include minimising administration by using a centralised management system, while unlimited-seat licensing is said to be well suited to virtualised networks as it does not measure cost in terms of the number of machines covered.
