Cost and consolidation 'key factors' in outsourced backup

16 May 2008

More businesses are looking to outsource their data archiving procedures in order to address concerns relating to cost and server consolidation, Asigra suggests.

The company claims to provide the most powerful data recovery platform within the industry for data protection between the data centre and desktop users.

Asigra adds that "hundreds" of service providers globally use its Televaulting solution to provide agentless information recovery across 50,000 locations worldwide.

The firm asserts: "Enterprises cite consolidation, data centre total cost of ownership and enterprise-wide backup and recovery compliance requirements as key drivers moving them toward information recovery outsourcing."

A new podcast has now been made available in which chief operating officer Eran Farajun discusses how upper management can justify expenditure on outsourcing data recovery and when it is appropriate to do so.

Previously, Asigra launched version 8.0 of Televaulting, citing Doug Chandler of analyst IDC's opinion that agentless information recovery management systems are capable of reducing the cost of operating IT infrastructure.
