Force10 C300 resilient switch 'network product of the year'

18 Jun 2008

A resilient switch by Force10 Networks has been named Networking Product of the Year by Techworld.

The C300 resilient switch won the accolade for its network control features, reliability and unique scalability.

It is the second award the product has won this year.

A passive copper backplane with patented design techniques prevents it from becoming a single point of failure and reduces system-level power consumption.

It also boasts non-blocking switch fabric, so it delivers scalable performance under any traffic conditions.

Vice-president of marketing at Force10 Networks Stephen Garrison said IT managers no longer needed to compromise on performance or price when selecting networking equipment for an enterprise LAN or midsized data centre.

In May, the C300 resilient switch also won the 2008 Product Innovation Award for the Ethernet switch category.

That accolade acknowledges vendors worldwide whose products bring critical evolutionary changes to the IT and business industries.

At the time, Mr Garrison said the C-Series range of switches allowed businesses to build "a flexible, application-ready network at a lower total cost of ownership."
