Isilon X-Series named product of the year
18 Jun 2008
Clustered storage leader Isilon Systems' X-Series was named Product of the Year at the Techworld 2008 Awards, seeing off competition from EMC and Pillar Data Systems.
The product was assessed for a number of criteria including features, innovation, market position and ease of use.
Isilon specialises in clustered storage systems and software for unstructured data and digital content.
The award-winning IQ clustered storage systems it produces combine Isilon's OneFS operating system software with the latest industry-standard hardware.
Isilon won the same category at last year's awards.
Meanwhile, in May, Isilon's X-Series was also named Best of Show at the Bio-IT World Conference and Expo.
It was selected by Bio-IT World magazine editors and industry experts.
Medical researchers are concentrating on using large datasets to study treatment of disease, requiring scalable, high-performance storage that is easy to use.
Kevin Davies, editor in chief of Bio-It World, said the awards recognise "products that are fuelling tomorrow's discoveries."
