FSC launches CentricStor FS storage system
19 Jun 2008
Fujitsu Siemens Computers (FSC) has announced the release of its CentricStor FS storage system for file services consolidation.
CentricStor FS provides centralised browser-based management of the data centre's file system, regardless of its total capacity.
Dr Helmut Beck, vice-president of FSC's storage business, says: "Many companies are fighting against the massive growth of unstructured data."
"With the introduction of CentricStor FS, we are providing a cost-effective and easy-to-manage solution that can be easily expanded," he adds.
Dr Beck explains that much of the data growth is fuelled by the prevalence of email attachments and Microsoft Office documents which must be stored on the network.
Such information, due to its unstructured nature, he notes poses a "major challenge" to the efficient and inexpensive management of networks.
FSC recently announced the latest addition to its FibreCAT range of online storage solutions, the FibreCAT SX80 iSCSI, which operates over existing IP infrastructure to help provide an economical alternative suitable for smaller businesses.
