Emulex HBAs 'offer superior performance'

30 Jun 2008

Emulex Corporation has unveiled the results of a new evaluation report that compared its host bus adapters (HBAs) to competing solutions from Brocade, demonstrating that the Emulex solutions "offer broader support and have stronger performance".

According to the enterprise-class products specialist, independent testing firm Demartek conducted a rigorous evaluation of its LightPulse Fibre Channel HBAs and concluded that they are "more feature rich" and are "designed for more scalable management" than similar products from Brocade.

Commenting on the results of the study, Dennis Martin, Demartek president, said: "Emulex's HBAs proved to have broad industry reach, robust performance and proven reliability. As companies evaluate SAN connectivity solutions, Emulex rises to the top of the list, especially for large-scale environments, as Emulex HBAs are easy to use, highly scalable and feature-rich."

According to Mike Smith, Emulex executive vice-president, worldwide marketing, the company's HBAs combine "experience, field-proven reliability and market strength" to deliver a product that offers IT managers a "clear choice".

Demartek found that Emulex HBAs and drivers supported all major server, operating system and storage vendors, featured an easy installation process and were "more intuitive, streamlined and customizable than Brocade's Enterprise Server Connectivity Manager (ESCM)".

Based in Costa Mesa, California, Emulex Corporation is listed on the New York Stock Exchange and supplies a range of intelligent storage platforms and embedded storage products to many of the leading server and storage providers in the world. The company recently started shipping its Emulex 8Gb/s HBAs for migration to next generation SAN technology.
