FSC reports 'superb response' to energy challenge

10/07/2008 08:29:20

The response to the Fujitsu Siemens Computers (FSC) energy challenge has been "superb", according to a company spokesperson.

FSC is currently promising to pledge a cash sum of €10,000 (£8,000) to charity if it is unable to demonstrate to a potential client that their energy usage may be reduced by at least 40 per cent by addressing their existing data centre infrastructure.

Chief technology officer Dr Joseph Reger reports that the pledge has so far gone "unbeaten" among the firms which have opted to take up the challenge.

But he adds: "There has been a superb response to our initiative, which has taken the critical step of showing companies very tangible ways to realise savings in power and resources usage."

The company is now extending the offer into six markets not already covered, with the charity donation remaining as a promise to anyone able to beat the 40 per cent benchmark figure.

FSC initially launched the campaign in March across seven European countries, with the assessment of companies' infrastructure carried out at its own expense.
