ONStor unveils Cougar 6000 NAS gateway series
15 Jul 2008
ONStor has announced its latest network-attached storage (NAS) gateway, the Cougar 6000 series.
Scalable up to four petabytes, ONStor suggests that the performance to price ratio which may be derived from the Cougar 6000 NAS gateway is around twice that of comparable models from other companies.
The firm adds that, due to its modular architecture design, the series could be the ideal way for businesses to meet their growing storage needs while maintaining a high level of cooling and power efficiency.
Bob Miller, chief executive officer of ONStor, says: "It's not just about managing and storing data; it's about cutting costs through storage and server consolidation, energy efficiency, leveraging existing storage infrastructure and tiering storage."
ONStor recently announced the results of research which showed that fewer European businesses have so far adopted virtualisation than their American counterparts.
However, respondents across both geographical regions claimed that the potential cost savings to be had from virtualisation could be expected to reach as high as 40 per cent.
