Riverbed launches Steelhead 50 series

31 Jul 2008

Riverbed's newly announced Steelhead 50 series of appliances aims to cater for offices of all sizes - including relatively small workplaces, the company asserts.

Appliances in the Riverbed Steelhead 50 line-up range from the 250 series from as few as 30 optimised TCP connections up to the 2050 series with a maximum of 6,000 optimised connections each.

Data storage capacity also ranges from at least 40 GB and up to 400 GB for the 250 and 2050 series respectively, equating to raw capacity of between 120 GB and 1 TB per device.

Riverbed comments: "You can now provide even your smallest remote offices with the application acceleration benefits that every office deserves."

The company adds that the small office appliances in the Riverbed Steelhead 50 range have been designed specifically so that they may operate when placed on a desk or when fitted into a data centre.

Larger devices in the range include hot-swappable disks, meaning they may be replaced without causing any downtime to be experienced to the network.
