Data growth and security 'are major concerns'
14 Aug 2008
Issues relating to the security of information and the growing amount of data which must be stored are among the main topics of concern for businesses, according to new research.
The organisers of industry event Storage Expo 2008 conducted a survey which found the subjects rank in the top three priorities for companies at present, each representing a leading area of focus for more than four in five firms, reports Data Storage Connection.
However, disaster recovery ranks highest of all, with 83 per cent of respondents giving it as the primary concern for their data storage provisions at the present time.
Interoperability between systems proved relatively less influential, with three-fifths of the survey's recipients highlighting it as an important issue, while 68 per cent also cited compliance with regulations as being on their agenda.
The organisers of Storage Expo 2008 suggest that the full lifecycle of data from its creation to destruction is becoming increasingly important due to the "sheer rate" at which companies' storage requirements are growing..
