Global image distribution firm adopts Isilon IQ
14 Aug 2008
Among the digital imaging firms to have adopted clustered storage from Isilon Systems in recent weeks is GLOBALedit, it has emerged.
The online distribution service enables photographers to sell their images to clients around the world in a number of different file formats, with its database now hosted on Isilon IQ pooled disk space.
Steve Fitz, senior vice-president of global field operations at Isilon Systems, says: "As digital content becomes the dominant form of data within the enterprise, the business opportunities associated with this transformational shift are available to all businesses - large and small."
Among the advantages to be derived for GLOBALedit are the simplification of the storage system and reduction of total operating cost, along with the consolidation of the image library and distribution system on to a single storage space, Isilon Systems asserts.
The organisation is the latest in a sequence of digital imaging businesses to implement Isilon IQ, which includes director James Cameron's production company Lightstorm Entertainment.
