Enterprise network needs 'are akin to supercomputers'
14 Aug 2008
The demands placed upon enterprise networks are now on a par with the processing requirements of some of the world's supercomputers, it has been suggested.
Marc Randall, chief executive officer of network design firm Force10 Networks, notes that corporations are faced with operating environments which present high levels of demand.
But with Force10 Networks' C-series of resilient switches, he comments that network reliability may be enhanced while total cost of ownership is reduced.
"Network requirements of the corporate enterprise cluster reflect many of the performance and reliability demands of the supercomputing environments," Mr Randall asserts.
Force10 Networks adds that its portfolio of reliable networking products incorporates elements of scalability and network control to meet the needs of enterprises looking to lower their operating costs.
The C300 resilient switch from Force10 Networks was previously named as Networking Product of the Year by an independent panel of judges on behalf of industry publication Techworld.
