Isilon IQ 'sets the template'
15 Aug 2008
The "template" for post-production digital effects companies has been set by The Orphanage's implementation of clustered storage from Isilon Systems, it has been asserted.
Among the films the visual effects firm has worked on are Superman Returns, Sin City and Iron Man, while Isilon IQ is now being used in its latest project - which the organisation claims is its largest to date.
Steve Fitz, senior vice-president of global field operations at Isilon Systems, says: "The Orphanage's portfolio speaks for itself, while their use of Isilon clustered storage sets the template for post-production companies looking to maximise the productivity of their operations."
Implementing Isilon IQ has resulted in The Orphanage being able, for the first time, to carry out development on an entire movie using a single storage system instead of multiple storage devices.
Previously, it was revealed that Lightstorm Entertainment is also using Isilon IQ on its latest project which sees it carrying out digital effects work on upcoming movie Avatar.
