Emulex HBAs 'certified for HDS platforms'
19 Aug 2008
Emulex and Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) have announced the certification of 8 Gbps LightPulse host bus adapters (HBAs) for use on HDS storage platforms.
The organisations suggest that the devices may have particular benefits for virtualised storage environments due to their ability to track input-output throughput, resource utilisation by users and virtual machines, and the level of storage traffic on the system.
Scott McIntyre, vice-president of product marketing at Emulex, says: "Leveraging eight generations of field-proven technology, Emulex 8Gbps HBAs provide the robustness, scalability and performance benefits that fully complement the features and benefits of HDSstorage systems."
Emulex suggests that its LPe12000 product family is ideal for virtualised networks, while its HBAs are certified for use with HDS flagship products such as the Hitachi Universal Storage Platform and Hitachi Universal Storage Platform V.
The organisation previously reported that host server products now contribute 72 per cent of its total net revenues, compared with 28 per cent derived from sales of embedded storage products.
