'More visibility' for 10 GbE networks
22 Aug 2008
The Force10 P-series offers network administrators greater visibility of their infrastructure, the company has asserted.
A number of new counters on the range of devices include hit counts for different policies implemented on the network, helping to highlight the impact each policy may have on traffic.
Zone hit counters are also provided, while Force10 Networks claims it is capable of tracking traffic at full wire speeds of 10 GbE, allowing network managers to obtain the data required for billing services.
"The policies and counters on the P-series are implemented directly into flexible hardware with the patented Dynamic Parallel Inspection architecture," Force10 Networks comments.
By doing so, the company claims it is able to expand the features list of its products without impacting on the quality of operations achieved at full wire speeds.
Force10 Networks concludes that using a hardware-based monitoring solution inherently lends itself to achieving predictable performance levels for any number of rules.
