Riverbed selected by global insurer
03 Sep 2008
Global insurance broker Willis Group Holdings is among the latest to implement Riverbed Technology's Steelhead appliance in order to accelerate the transmission of data over its company network, it has been revealed.
More than 100 of the devices have been used across the company's offices, helping to consolidate the insurance group's IT infrastructure with associated cost savings expected to emerge in the coming years.
Eoghan Doyle, director of infrastructure and operations at Willis Group Holdings, says: "We didn't have to dramatically change or reinvest in anything ... essentially, the appliances worked out of the box."
As well as the Steelhead devices, the insurance group has installed two Riverbed Interceptors, to help the network accelerators to operate in tandem with one another more efficiently.
Riverbed Technology previously reported that real estate organisation Sentinel had achieved efficiency gains of 1,000 per cent after implementing around 150 Steelhead devices across its company network.
