Data centre automation spend 'is increasing'
03 Sep 2008
More firms are spending money on data centre automation services, according to figures from Computer Economics.
The analyst explains that, not only do many firms already have procurement schemes in place for data centre automation, but many of those which do are increasing their expenditure.
In all, more than a third (34 per cent) of firms surveyed revealed that they have a fully established data centre automation plan in place which they expect to expand in the coming months.
A further 35 per cent in total said that they are either researching the possibility of implementing data centre automation, piloting a scheme already or currently putting such provisions in place on a more permanent basis.
The analyst comments: "The allure is double-barrelled - automation promises to improve service levels while freeing resources to reinvest in the infrastructure."
Computer Economics previously reported that companies could be looking into data centreconsolidation in light of the potentially reduced costs of running one facility rather than many..
