QLogic adapters 'scale for high-performance systems'
10 Sep 2008
QLogic's 7200 series of DDR InfiniBand adapters are ideal for high-performance computing (HPC) environments, the company has asserted.
The adapters use a cluster interconnect to deliver throughput of up to 20 Gbps and are capable of carrying 26 million messages between computer nodes during each second of their operation, QLogic states.
Amit Vashi, vice-president of marketing at the firm's host solutions group, notes the scalability of the devices, which he adds is capable of "giving HPC users superior performance over alternative solutions in the marketplace".
The comments follow the results of benchmarking tests conducted using the Standard Performance Evaluation Corp SPEC MPI2007 standard and which, QLogic points out, measured the 7200 series as delivering "world record performance".
Previously, QLogic suggested that it is among the first manufacturers to guarantee its InfiniBand products as being reliable in the long term, with the provision of a three-year warranty on the 7200 series of network adapters.
