Virtual Iron 'meets a real need'

11 Sep 2008

The success of software-based virtualisation management platform Virtual Iron has been driven by its ability to meet the needs of users, it has been claimed.

John McCarthy, senior vice-president of sales at Virtual Iron, explains that many users of the software are not serviced by products available elsewhere in the virtualisation management market.

"Our combination of comprehensive capabilities, ease of use and affordability is meeting a real need," he contends.

Virtual Iron adds that its software may be suitable to be incorporated into resellers' services including disaster recovery and business continuity planning, as well as overall data centre assessments.

The organisation suggests that up to 94 per cent of x86 server users may not yet have implemented virtualisation, with the market expected to stand at $7 billion (£4 billion) by 2011.

Virtual Iron also previously revealed that it had been listed among the finalists for the 2008 Massachusetts Technology Leadership Award in the category of Private Sector Company of the Year.
