UK 'more green-IT friendly'
15 Sep 2008
UK businesses are more embracing of new technology and green IT than those small and medium businesses abroad, research shows.
Over half of UK companies thought that new technology allowed them to beat competitors, the report by industry association CompTIA says.
The survey reveals that 65 per cent of firms are constantly evaluating new technology, compared to 51 per cent in the US and 39 per cent in Canada.
Over two-thirds of UK businesses thought green IT was the top priority.
"Not only do they [UK businesses] agree on the value and competitive benefit of emerging technology, but they are considerably more unified in their rating of what the top emerging technologies are," CompTIA European vice-president Matthew Poyiadgi says, according to WhatPC?.
Talented staff can advise companies which technology would be more suitable, Mr Poyiadgi adds.
In a book called The Secrets of CEOs, 61 per cent of CEOs admitted they did not know enough about emerging technology, which the authors of the book, Steve Tappin and Andrew Cave, claim to be because many are aged 40 and over, the Telegraph reports.
