Data 'is critical' to 21st century business
16 Sep 2008
Business in the 21st century revolves around data and the ways in which it is handled, Riverbed Technology has asserted.
Senior vice-president of marketing and business development Eric Wolford explains that the company aims to diminish the obstacles that organisations are likely to face when transferring data between different locations.
"Our vision is to eliminate these inefficiencies through removing redundant data at every point between the data centre and the end user," he states.
This, he adds, is due to the cost and efficiency implications that businesses may be exposed to if their distributed networks become overloaded with redundant data.
But through the use of Riverbed Technology products, the vendor claims that it may be able to accelerate network performance for some clients by up to 100 times.
Riverbed previously noted that its wide-area data services are able to consolidate IT infrastructure to such an extent that some firms could find they are able to operate "serverless" remote offices.
