Intransa 'raises $15m for IP storage'

21/10/2008 16:08:18

The internet protocol (IP) storage solutions vendor Intransa has raised $15 million (£8.9 million) since the beginning of 2008 to help fund IP storage for video surveillance, the vendor claims.

Demand for increased retention and better resolution of video, along with increased frame rate, has seen the video surveillance system sector increase, with a prominent presence in education, government, security and public safety, to name but a few.

Intransa comments on how traditional analog systems, combined with direct-attached captive storage, were unable to keep up with demand, being too expensive and challenging to meet more modern needs.

"While the economy is uncertain, the need to upgrade existing CCTV infrastructure affordably and risk free will be more important than ever," claims Bud Broomhead, chief executive officer of Intransa, who adds that the vendor can meet such market tests of lowering costs of surveillance systems, while extending the life and capabilities of digital video recorders.

The vendor recently announced that Manqing Liu had been promoted to the position of senior director of interoperability and performance science, from the previous role of director of technical marketing.
