Riverbed upgrades the integrated RSP
28 Oct 2008
Riverbed has announced enhancement to its Steelhead Mobile and Riverbed Services Platform (RSP), which will bring cost savings to the data centre, the vendor claims.
The RSP - described as the industry's first integrated platform provided for third-party software - will accelerate applications and consolidate the IT structure of organisations, because of its virtualisation technology and wide area network (WAN) optimisation.
"We anticipate that customers will continue to look to Riverbed to deliver industry firsts such as the RSP, which helps drive infrastructure costs down, enhance the productivity of the workforce and enable business to be more resilient in times of change," says John Martin, vice-president of product management at Riverbed.
Additionally, the solutions the vendor provides enables enterprises to save money straight away, while allowing it to meet its strategic requirements, Mr Martin continues, adding that in today's IT arena people are forced to undergo a bigger workload with less backup to help do this.
In related news, Network World has advised that WAN management should be automated, as reducing the number of such tools can avoid repetition and free up resources.
