Eaton EPM 'measures data centre power'
27 Nov 2008
Eaton Corporation has announced that its Eaton Enterprise Power Manager (EPM) software and power cables can enhance data centrepower management.
Indeed, the EPM software can manage and monitor enclosure power distribution units (ePDUs) and midrange uninterruptible power systems (UPS), as its notification settings can aggregate the power management information, enabling data centre managers to analyse and plan, the vendor claims.
Commenting on the news, Michael Camesano, product manager of ePDUs and enclosures at Eaton, says that the vendor has addressed the critical need to connect subsidiary power distribution equipment and IT systems to a new power source.
Furthermore, Eaton also looked at the need "to power more equipment without using up limited outputs on PDUs, rack power modules or UPSs and to enable equipment with a variety of power cord interfaces to connect easily".
The vendor recently announced that it has joined the Alliance for Sustainable Built Environment.
