Huawei routers 'to deploy core network'
27 Nov 2008
Next-generation telecommunications network vendor Huawei has announced that it was chosen by Mobily - a mobile operator in Saudi Arabia - to assist in the deployment of an internet protocol (IP) /multiprotocol label switching unified core network.
As such, the network enables the operator to provide customers with a better service experience and total cost of ownership savings, the vendor states.
Huawei's NE5000E - the industry's first ten terabits per second switch capacity core router - delivers flexible scalability and can support Mobily's growing broadband services, as well as reducing power consumption and meeting the demands of bandwidth performance, service provision capabilities and service quality.
Mr Liu Qi, chief executive officer of the Huawei Saudi Arabia Representative Office, comments: "The integration of bearer networks for voice and data is the basis for an all-service operation," adding that the vendor is "delighted to continue to cooperate with Mobily in the IP area".
In related news, Huawei has recently released figures showing that to date, it has shipped out over 20 million mobile broadband units to more than 115 countries.
