28/01/2009 13:21:25

Niche storage suppliers are enjoying success during the current economic downturn, a report reveals, with Riverbed and ExaGrid both delivering high revenues.

The suppliers' focus on growth markets is supporting them in their success, with high-end wide area data services, solid state storage and cost-effective disk storage products still selling well, Channel Register states.

ExaGrid recently released figures which reveal that is has achieved record sales for the fourth quarter ending December 31st 2008, while sales were up 23 per cent compared to the previous quarter.

Commenting, Bill Andrews, chief executive officer and president of the vendor, says: "We're excited about 2009 and eager to leverage the strong business foundation we built in the prior year to continue our technology leadership and market share growth."

Riverbed, meanwhile, is extending its wide area network (WAN) optimisation leadership with the acquisition of Mazu Networks, which will allow the vendor to further meet customer and enterprise demands.

WAN optimisation will also be accelerated by the collaboration of Singapore Telecommunications and Riverbed, the vendor recently asserted.
