FSC unveils 'future-proof' PRIMERGY design

31 Mar 2009

Fujitsu Siemens Computers (FSC) has unveiled a new design for its PRIMERGY range of servers which it claims will help to future-proof infrastructure for its clients.

The new server architecture, dubbed PRIMERGY Dual Socket S5, incorporates a Cool-safe chassis to help reduce operational costs and save energy, while high performance levels and energy efficiency add to the benefits.

FSC notes that virtualisation technology is incorporated into the server as standard, further enhancing the advantages of the system for dynamic application.

Jens-Peter Seick, senior vice-president of FSC's Enterprise Server Business, says: "The new S5 generation of PRIMERGY servers make a real breakthrough in terms of lifetime ownership costs; we are introducing a revolutionary new design that optimises cooling and usability."

Five models are already available to ship, while in June two more - the TX200 S5 tower server and BX620 S5 blade server - are also scheduled to launch.

The launch follows the retaking by FSC's PRIMERGY RX600 S4 server of the record-breaking performance on the independent SPECweb2005 benchmark.
