Brocade reports double-digit gains
01 Jun 2009
A successful first quarter led to double-digit gains in market share for Brocade in the Fibre Channel switching segment, it has been revealed.
The company reports the findings, which are drawn from first-quarter figures compiled by industry analyst the Dell'Oro Group.
Ian Whiting, senior vice-president of worldwide sales for Brocade, comments that the company's investment of more than $1 billion (£610 million) to date has helped it to present a competitive offering to customers.
"These investments help ensure that Brocade and its partners deliver best-in-class solutions to solve the most complex and pressing IT issues today and help define next-generation data centre architectures," he says.
Over the first quarter of 2009, Dell'Oro reports Brocade as gaining 14 per cent in Fibre Channel switching market share, as well as almost four per cent in fixed switching.
The first-quarter analysis follows the publication of second-quarter financial figures by Brocade itself which reflected an "outstanding" three months, recording 17 per cent sequential growth and 43 per cent growth year-on-year.
