Riverbed 'dramatically reduces' bandwidth usage for Kendle
03 Jun 2009
Another Riverbed Technology client has reported a dramatic reduction in bandwidth usage after installing the company's Steelhead appliances.
The units were deployed to accelerate the delivery of centralised applications over the distributed network of clinical research organisation Kendle.
Bandwidth utilisation improved threefold over the subsequent 30 days, with HTTP traffic down 83 per cent and TCP CIFS data down by 78 per cent.
The wide area network as a whole was seen to carry 1.2 terabytes less data during the 30-day period, Riverbed Technology says.
By using the Riverbed Services Platform, Kendle is also now looking to extend virtualisation to its branch offices, having already implemented the technology across 60 per cent of its network.
Data which would previously have been manually archived at remote locations has also been consolidated back to the central office - allowing it to be included in automated backup processes.
Riverbed Technology was celebrating recently after receiving the Best Practices in Emerging Company Support accolade in the Service & Support Professionals Association's 2009 STAR awards.
