Virtualisation 'is driving organisational change'
03 Jun 2009
Virtualisation is among the technologies currently encouraging change in organisations, reports SearchStorage.com.
Barbara Goldworm, president and chief analyst at research firm Focus Consulting, made the observation in a keynote address at the recent Storage Decisions conference.
"Organisations are asking how they can use virtualisation technologies to change the way they do business," she explained.
This is seeing wider implementation of the technology across areas such as storage, desktop and application environments, she added.
Her address - entitled How virtualization can make IT the good guys - identified four different areas where virtualisation can be advantageous, SearchStorage.com reports.
These included the reduced physical space required, lower expenditure on power and cooling, and the opportunity to save money on the procurement of new computer equipment.
Further Storage Decisions events are scheduled before the end of the summer, including a summit in Toronto on June 16th and a conference in New York on September 22nd-23rd..
