Tatts Group reaches ROI 'in 6 months' with Riverbed

17 Jun 2009

Gaming organisation Tatts Group found its recent investment in Riverbed Steelhead appliances was no gamble, as the devices paid for themselves within six months of usage.

Deployed at three of the group's Australia offices, the cost savings generated by the application acceleration units achieved Tatts' return on investment objectives in the first half-year after installation.

Communication systems manager Anthony Prior explains that business-critical applications are hosted by the group at its main data centres in Melbourne and Brisbane.

He says: "Our staff need to access these critical applications from all over the country. Remote users regularly complained about application performance - we knew we had a real problem."

After installing Riverbed Steelhead appliances, however, applications were seen to run up to four times faster, helping to boost productivity across the group's workforce.

Riverbed's products have also been put to use at sea, as offshore oil rig operator Petrobras recently saw its database backups accelerated by 8.5 times after implementing Riverbed wide area network optimisation.
