HDS extends midrange storage innovation
03 Jul 2009
Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) has announced its latest innovations in midrange storage solutions.
Enhancements have been made across the Adaptable Modular Storage 2000 family, comprising software and hardware products, in areas such as reliability, security and general operational efficiency.
Within reliability, the Adaptable Modular Storage 2500DC offers the ability to power data centres using direct current - which HDS claims can use energy more efficiently than conventional alternating current supplies.
The company has also reasserted that Hitachi Dynamic Provisioning software is due for release in the second half of the year.
HDS adds that the High Density Storage Expansion Tray supports up to 48 TB of storage in a compact physical space.
"With these innovative enterprise-class enhancements, HDS continues to raise the bar for modular storage," says Mike Walkey, the firm's senior vice-president of global channels.
HDS also recently announced the launch of Zero Page Reclaim for the Hitachi Universal Storage Platform, a facility to identify unused allocated space in virtualised environments and retrieve it for use by other end-users or applications.
