Priority of HDS 'to always store data safely'
12 Nov 2009
Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) is aware that its clients place great trust in it, according to Michael Hay, head of strategic product operations and planning at the company. Data can go from worthless to invaluable in the right hands and context - so storing it safely is a demanding challenge.
Finding one email in a deluge of communication could be the difference between winning and losing a court case, writes Mr Hay in his HDS blog. He points to the fact that the majority of HDS staff reside less than a 15 minute journey from their workplace as an example of the firm's ability to deal with unexpected situations.
Mr Hay states: "A huge portion of Hitachi's approach to storage is all about ensuring data safety. At the core of our storage culture we very much recognise that you as our customers are entrusting us [with] one of your most valuable asset: your data."
Earlier this week Hu Yoshida, vice-president and chief technology officer at the vendor, said that HDS scale-storage was "the way forward" as it is cheaper and more reliable than dual processor systems.
