'Cost-effective' ExaGrid hardware wins at award ceremony
12 Nov 2009
Market leader ExaGrid Systems - which offers cost-effective and scalable disk-based backup solutions with data deduplication - has won at the prestigious Tech Awards Circle. The firm was successful in the Best Mid-range Hardware category, taking the bronze prize.
ExaGrid's disk back-up product allows users to change data between back-up systems instead of storing full data sets. Advantages of this include reducing the amount of disk space required and significant cost savings.
The hardware is able to work so effectively and quickly because it copies data straight to disk and deduplication occurs after the process, when the data has already been stored. When using ExaGrid firms can anticipate being able to store one terabyte to 100 terabytes on a single system, the vendor claimed.
Kevin Anderson, awards programme coordinator, said: "Despite overwhelmingly strong competition, ExaGrid exhibited true industry excellence to be recognised among the top of the Tech Awards Circle."
Last week George Crump, lead analyst at Storage Switzerland, said that companies which find themselves with excess storage could use it to perform deduplication.
