Businesses 'should ensure UPS is ready'
17 Nov 2009
Uninterruptable power supply (UPS) systems are in demand by firms which place heavy reliance on a constant stream of electricity, claims diversified power management company Eaton. Eaton, which provides such technology, is advising company bosses on how to deal with any unexpected outage of power.
Eaton's UPS products act as a safety net for businesses when electricity supplies fail - something that can be common in extreme weather conditions. Firstly, those using an UPS system should ensure their backup power supply is ready for action and fully maintained.
It is also possible to install surge protection equipment to deal with sudden increases in power. A surge in power usually occurs after a lightning strike and can travel into the heart of a building - but protection equipment should prevent any lasting damage.
Business owners may also wish to check that their electrical infrastructure is in good condition and that they have an emergency plan in place. Last week it was reported that Eaton's SC200 V3 system has "raised the bar" for energy control technology.
