New Isilon products 'will maximise storage efficiency'
17 Nov 2009
Isilon Systems has announced the release of two new data storage products which, it states, will maximise efficiency across data centres and cut the power footprint of companies by up to 50 per cent. The firm's IQ 72000X and 72NL designs bring to the market a ten petabyte single-file system which helps to deliver ultimate efficiency.
One way in which it delivers high performance is the incorporation into the design of serial advanced technology attachment drives, which double the storage density per unit while managing to reduce power and cooling costs.
Sam Grocott, senior director of product management at Isilon, said: "'Do more with less' is standard operating procedure in today's enterprise data centre where cost and energy efficiency are paramount to maximising operating leverage."
It was revealed last month that Isilon IQ, another of the company's products, reduces storage costs by up to 75 per cent. LiveOffice, the largest host of email archives in the UK, employed the IQ technology to reduce the expense associated with cloud storage.
