Riverbed "will help customers break the performance barrier"
18 Nov 2009
Riverbed has revealed that it will begin to introduce solutions which deliver enhanced benefits when using cloud storage. Current technology by the firm allows users to build private clouds, but it now intends to expand its range of public cloud systems.
At a launch event in New York, Riverbed exhibited the numerous advantages of its virtual appliance for the public cloud market which will soon be released. For more than five years Riverbed has delivered wide area network solutions which allow more than one office to be connected.
It hopes that its upcoming solutions will allow large organisations, or even governments, to enjoy increased efficiency as a result of the cost and operational advantages of public clouds while still providing control over critical assets.
Eric Wolford, senior vice-president at Riverbed, said: "With our forthcoming products we will help customers break the performance barrier for cloud applications and cloud storage, starting with virtual Steelhead for the cloud. We will help customers achieve the promised benefits of the public cloud."
Earlier this week Riverbed claimed that its Steelheads solution can improve application performance and data transfer in remote locations and multi-office systems.
