QLogic's network infrastructure solutions 'is editor's choice'

19 Nov 2009

QLogic, the leading provider of network infrastructure solutions, has won a prestigious award at this year's SuperComputing event in Oregon, USA. The firm won the prize for Best High Performance Computing Collaboration Between Government and Industry.

Along with nine other nominees, QLogic was recognised for the part it played in the Hyperion project carried out by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. QLogic's role in the scheme was to provide infrastructure, such as switches and host channel adapters. The ultimate aim of the project is to provide an environment in which cluster storage technology used by the US government can be developed and tested.

Jesse Parker, vice-president and general manager at Network Solutions Group, which owns QLogic, said: "By harnessing the power of the hundreds of nodes in this cluster, QLogic InfiniBand switches and adapters help deliver massive amounts of productivity for the Department of Energy."

QLogic offers an extensive portfolio of InfiniBand products, including switches and adapters, designed to maintain a high performance level in data storage systems. In August it was announced that the firm has extended its leadership in the fibre channel market after year-on-year growth of 1.9 percentage points.
