Spectra Logic 'provides the equipment required to manage tape system'

Tape-based solutions continue to play a pivotal role in data storage. Even as storage technology has evolved and developed through history, tape products have always found a role to play by adapting to the times, according to leading innovator and producer of tape solutions Spectra Logic.

No matter how modern and revolutionary other applications become, tape finds its place in the backup and archive market "because it has continued to offer improvements in performance, cost of ownership and dependability", Spectra Logic states.

Over the years the general reliability of tape storage has increased, the company believes. It will, however, persist in striving to develop it to make it "even better". One such product that could achieve this is BlueScale 11. The management software will be the final piece in the jigsaw for Spectra Logic in terms of offering an entire range of tools, designed to help data centre operators manage their system through every step of the cycle.

Spectra Logic was recently awarded a prize at the Storage Visions Conference for its T-Finity tape storage product. It was named Product of the Year, with high density and cost savings cited as the reasons.
