Spectra Logic product wins experts' praise

26/01/2010 17:48:59

A Spectra Logic deduplication product was the recipient of positive reviews after undergoing a thorough inspection and examination by industry experts. The firm's nTierv80 innovative data storage design was lauded by members of OpenBench Labs, which recently carried out a study of currently available solutions.

Its test revealed that nTierv80 maximises the potential of storage resources, primarily by the thin provisioning of virtual tape cartridges, maximises backup performance and automates data caching. It also minimises the number of backup windows using video tape libraries as a replacement for physical tape libraries.

Jack Fegreus, chief executive officer at OpenBench Labs, said: "The backup throughput and storage utilisation gains were impressive and the automated data caching feature handled a steady stream of virtual machine backup data at 225 MB per second."

Spectra Logic last week spoke of the continued importance of tape storage. The company states that thanks to its ability to constantly evolve, tape storage had managed to remain one of the most reliable and popular methods of data storage.
