Networked video surveillance 'to dominate by 2012'

09/02/2010 15:15:42

A growing demand for security products is creating significant growth in the video surveillance market, according to a new report. Providers of such technology - including leading manufacturer Intransa - are expected to expand rapidly in the coming years.

The Global CCTV Market Analysis Report by Companiesandmarkets.com suggests that the video surveillance industry is valued at $13 billion (£8.3 billion) as of the end of 2009 and will rise by 21 per cent each year until 2012. After studying the type of products on the market, the website believes that analogue CCTV will remain as the dominant solution over the same period.

However, as the end of 2012 nears, analogue CCTV is expected to give way to network internet protocol solutions as the industry's favourite, with those provided by Intransa potentially set for widespread popularity.

Intransa recently announced the latest developments of its VideoAppliance range. It unveiled three new products designed to make it easier to install surveillance technology and cut the costs associated with doing so.
