How Video’s Helping In Education
As education policymakers look to maximise their budgets in times of ongoing austerity, could technology help? A tool being adopted with increasing rapidity and on a global basis to aid in this mission is smart use of video conferencing, according to education sector experts at video leader LifeSize.
For example, one US school aiming to get some of its young charges ready for the next Winter Olympics uses remote tutoring to let students who’ve been on the slopes all day catch up at night.
Meanwhile, sensitive use of the technology has helped a 10 year old in the process of beating cancer to keep up to date with both her schooling and maintain a sense of being one of the class – while youngsters in an American high school were able to fully collaborate with a top professor in the field of nanotechnology, to the extent that one was so inspired she applied to work with the lecturer and has found her vocation early.
And in one more example among many LifeSize’s people have seen, future barristers and politicians have had their oratorical skills polished by partaking in online video debates with similarly eager teens – often in different countries.
