Hitachi Data Systems, the market leading provider of cloud-based storage solutions, has been recently clarifying some of the pertinent issues regarding storage consolidation.

While it’s true that all storage system components will eventually need upgrading or replacing, Hitachi Data Systems claims that their virtualised storage infrastructure allows this to be completed seamlessly.

The company argues their case from a particular product standpoint. Hitachi Data Systems has noted that while it’s feasible for businesses to adopt multiple systems as opposed to just one all-purpose box, their Virtual Storage Platform (VSP) successfully manages to consolidate all storage system data “into a common pool of storage resources”.

When attached to VSP or its predecessors, the enterprise function can immediately upgrade resources, meaning there is no need to rip up existing systems when using the non-disruptive and scalable system.
