12 June 2012 18:00:00

In an energy consumption comparison study between the leading manufacturers of VoIP phones, snom 3xx series has been named the most energy efficient model on the market.

With green operation creeping back up the IT agenda, businesses are seeking communications solutions that will save on both the financial and environmental costs of their operation. The real benefits lie with larger IT infrastructure arrangements, as the incremental savings from each unit contribute to a massive total reduction in cost.

All phones in the snom product family use Power over Ethernet (PoE), which means that they draw some of their power over Ethernet cables provided from LAN switching infrastructure. The energy consumption of the snom 3xx model was found to be notably lower than some other well-known manufacturers in both standby mode and during calls, taking in only 1.76 watts and 2.76 watts respectively.
